Sheetal Rana is the Global Director of Partnership and Localisation at Trócaire, and is based in Nairobi, Kenya. In this role, she leads the organization’s efforts to advance locally led development across humanitarian and development sectors, operationalizing Trócaire’s Partnership and Localisation Strategy (2021-2026). The strategy aims to amplify the voice and influence of local partners in the aid system, strengthen Trócaire partners’ organizational resilience through capacity strengthening, ensure equitable and mutually accountable partnership, and support their funding and resource mobilisation. Through collaboration within Trócaire and with external stakeholders, Sheetal supports to implement initiatives that align with this strategy.

With 20 years of experience spanning multiple countries and contexts, Sheetal brings to her role a strong commitment to locally led development, multi-faceted knowledge, and practice wisdom. She has worked closely with local and national civil society organisations in Nepal and Myanmar to provide timely, effective, and relevant support to communities, while also supporting the partners in their localization journeys. Sheetal’s direct work with remote communities in Nepal have reinforced her commitment to advancing locally led development and amplifying local voices.
